Product care

Sterling Silver Jewellery

Why it needs care
Sterling silver (92.5% pure silver blended with other metals) naturally develops a patina or tarnish over time when exposed to air, humidity, or skin products. This is completely normal and can easily be cared for.

Daily tips
Put on your jewellery last—after applying perfume, lotions, hair products, or sunscreen. Avoid contact with household chemicals, pools, and salt water. Remove before exercising or showering, as sweat and soaps accelerate tarnishing.

Cleaning
Gently wipe after each wear with a soft polishing cloth to remove oils and restore shine. For a deeper clean, mix a few drops of mild dish soap with warm water. Soak briefly, then use a soft cloth or brush. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely. Avoid abrasive cleaners, paper towels, or tissue, as they can scratch the surface.

Storage
Store in a dry place, ideally in the soft pouch or box your Jacques jewellery came in. Keep pieces separate to avoid scratches. For long-term storage, use anti-tarnish strips inside your jewellery box.

Gold Vermeil Jewellery

What it is
Gold vermeil is a premium layer of 18k gold thickly plated over sterling silver. It combines the warmth of gold with the value of silver, giving you a luxurious piece designed to last with care.

Daily tips
Handle vermeil with extra care, as its surface is more delicate than solid gold. Remove before swimming, exercising, showering, or applying lotions and perfumes. Limit exposure to water and humidity to preserve the gold layer’s brilliance.

Cleaning
After wearing, gently wipe with a soft, lint-free cloth to maintain shine. If needed, wash gently with lukewarm water and mild soap. Dry thoroughly with a soft cloth. Do not use jewellery dips, ultrasonic cleaners, or polishing liquids, as these can strip the gold layer.

Storage
Store in an individual soft pouch to prevent scratches and reduce exposure to air. Keep vermeil pieces separate from other jewellery to avoid rubbing and wear.

General Care

Wear with love, but mindfully. Jewellery is designed for everyday life, but treating it gently will extend its beauty. Rotate pieces. Giving jewellery a rest reduces wear and prolongs plating. Professional refresh. Over time, gold vermeil may naturally fade. We recommend professional replating to restore its original luster.
